Number of branches produced by ecotypes of B. pendula grown in LD, 12 hrs of PAR (150 µmol m-2 s-1 fluorescent plus 10 µmol m-2 s-1 ) during the day and 12 hrs of incandescent light (10 µmol m-2 s-1) during the light extension period (night). Each point is a mean of 16 plants. Mean ± S.E. are shown. No branching was seen when the day-length was extended with monochromatic R or FR or with their mixtures.
